We have entered into the hardest and most challenging part of the fishing season, as many people would put it. I am going to tell you a few ways to overcome those conditions that will put you on fish more often and more frequently.
First off, fish where no one else is fishing. If you fish water that isn't being pressured, those fish are a little more willing to bite. As a result of fishing these waters, you are going to be getting fish that a little more likely to bite.
Secondly I want to tell you, go deeper. This time of the year with the cold water, they seek to go to deeper water and follow the baitfish. If you fish the shallower water, everyone is fishing these fish. Go deeper the fish are just more willing to bite. Jigging spoons and drop shots worked slowly are among the best methods to get these fish.
Finally, if you are trying to find a bait to get bit on, go small. This time of the year, they are seeking the smallest and easiest bait to eat. If you work it slowly and in the zone, they will bite. They don't want to move a lot, so the slower and smaller the better. If you are fishing the shallower waters, which hold bigger bass during the winter months, use BIG lures. A big swim bait like the 9" Osprey are among the best to use. I can attest to this myself. I use this big lure to get a big kicker fish, and the smaller baits and slower for the limit fish.
